This is something I am quite passionate about. Too often I go to see an M rated movie and there are kids in there under the age of 13. It’s not that parents are oblivious to the ratings, they just think it’s ok to expose their child to lots of violence, bad language and other adult concepts. Well, in my opinion it is NOT ok.
There is a reason for film classification ratings and if you have ever studied the consciousness or have an understanding of the mind then you will appreciate how our minds cannot tell the difference between something that is real and something that is made up; like at the movies. That’s why we get emotional or have an emotional response to a movie or something that is fictitious. So, imagine the mind of a child being exposed to adult concepts. Please, please, PLEASE, follow the ratings.
Now, if you want to find out more about the rating system and you are in the USA you can check out the Motion Picture Association Of America as they have an explanation of the ratings and also some other great resources.
If you are in Australia then you can have a look at the Australian film classifications website.
And for those of you in the UK, there is also a film classification website that will give you more information called the British Board Of Film Classification.
Keep in mind too that you can always lodge a complaint through these movie industry bodies.
So, now that we have the housekeeping out of the way, let’s go see the what’s on at the movies for kids right now.
