The first of the Despicable Me movies was released in the USA in July 2010 and was received well by the audience and grossed over $543 million worldwide. Despicable Me the sequel was to follow in 2013.

The Despicable Me minions are my favorite kids movie character and even though I know the purple minions are evil and would devour you in a second, I still have a soft spot for them.

Whether it be the yellow variety or the purple; minions are super cute. Their speech is slightly inaudible but you still understand them based on the context and they have a way of being funny all on their own.

There’s not just one of them so you can take your pick as to which one you like but you may also have a hard time distinguishing the one you like from the rest of the minions. Some people have tried to track the names of the minions. You can check out some minion names here and see if they are correct. What I can tell you is that at least 3 of them have names. There’s Kevin, Stuart and Bob from what I know but if you know more then please comment below.

The purple minions do not appear until the second movie but their appearance is unforgettable. The yellow minions are captured but then eventually transformed into purple minions who become aggressive, at the hands of the evil Eduardo Pérez (aka El Macho) and what makes matters worse is that Gru’s old assistant is in on it.

These movies were so popular that there was a Despicable Me 1, 2 and 3 and then, because the minions were such a hit, there was a movie put out just about them. You can check out a preview below.
